I’ve spent over 25 years in IT and management, with the last 10 years in a global Consumer Goods company as the Global General Manager for eCommerce and direct to consumer. I lived 10 years in Beijing and New York, having built eCommerce businesses before finally returning to Singapore in 2019. I’ve spoken in many keynotes in conferences around the world.
I created nBorder as a niche company that could provide specialized advice to large Consumer Goods companies on the complexities of setting up eCommerce and running operations in different markets around the world. Today, eCommerce only accounts for 5% of total turnover of most Consumer Goods companies, because of the significant challenges and operations. Having experienced this first hand as a top executive, we help them to navigate through various organizational challenges.
I’m often inspired by the spirit of young people that I work with all over the world, despite the economic turmoil that they are experiencing - Brazilians, Russians, Middle Easterns, Indians all working hard to drive their business online. Traditional retail has been battered and budgets are extremely tight but they have constantly managed to push ahead. They inspire me.
I’m quite a boring person (so says my wife). I don’t have much friends outside of my work and most of my friends are colleagues from my previous company, who are scattered all over the world. When I get a chance, once a year, I read a book. But I’m quite good at making money for others. Maybe that’s considered a nice hobby to have.
